Let God be your eyes.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When Chandler was nine years old, a piece of plastic hit his face, and as a result, this young boy lost his right eye. That was four years ago, and now 13-year-old Chandler is the starting quarterback with his middle school’s winning football team! His explanation for why his eyesight hasn’t hindered him – Chandler says, “God is my other eye.” I love that! Oh, that we would not allow our troubles to blind us to God's purposes! Like in Genesis 16, after having been mistreated by Sara, Hagar finds no solution to her problems but to run away. But there in the desert, the Lord speaks to her and Hagar replies, “You are the God who sees me … I have seen the one who sees me.” Hagar and Chandler are seeing themselves and their circumstances with the loving eyes of Jesus—and you should, too. No matter what your troubles, let God be your eyes.
