Don’t judge God’s Word – let it speak to you instead.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The other day I was talking to my friend, Lisa, and we were discussing parts of scripture that we liked the best. Lisa told me she preferred reading the Psalms, but not so much the book of Revelation. I shared a few of my favorite parts of the Bible, like the story of Job. But later that night, I happened to read Hebrews 4:12, where it says, “The word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, [now get this] it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” And there it hit me – Lisa and I had been picking apart the Bible, judging God’s Word, when the Bible says, it judges us! All of God's Word speaks to the “all” of us – that is, every part of ourselves. Whether it’s in the minor prophets or the book of Revelation, don’t be too picky about the Bible. In short, don’t judge God's Word; let it speak to you.
