Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, various cultures throughout the world either pray for, or to, the dead. It must not be hard to do that. I mean, you can tell the dead anything, right? They can’t judge, they can’t roll their eyes and go, “What were you thinking?!” But when it comes to talking to the living, we hesitate. We’re not quick to do as James 5 says and “Confess our sins to each other and pray for each other so that we might be healed.” That so goes against our grain. Letting my sins be made known – what will people think of me? But, friend, it’s this kind of transparency and vulnerability that is so missing in the church today. Rather than confess our sins, we do our best to hide them from each other. And the result is that the body of Christ is weakened. So, today do as James tells you to: confess your sins to a friend, and not only will you be healed of a sin sick soul; the body of Christ will really be strengthened.
