Let the things of this earth dim, so that the things of God will begin to look large and lovely.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Have you ever felt like you just don’t have the emotional or physical energy to worship? Maybe you’re deep in some disappointment, or you’re in pain, and you’re thinking, “Oh, Lord, I can’t do this, I can’t sing; I don’t feel like worshipping.” Well, let me share with you the story of little Adrienne in Africa. She was born with a serious defect of the joints and muscles; but that’s not stopped her from praising God. Adrienne can’t walk, but with her bent hands, she loves worshipping as she beats an empty water can and sings. Truly, God has made the poor of this world to be rich in faith. And you can be, too. Today, be poor to the things of this world; hold them loosely, if you must hold them at all. Let the things of this earth become strangely dim, for then the things of God will begin to look large and lovely. It’s one way to stir the fire of worship. Just like little Adrienne.
