When you trust in the Lord, there is always courage to go on.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and we’ve all done it. Someone comes up to you and asks, “Hey, how are you?” to which you automatically reply, “Good, I’m doing good,” when in reality all seems anything but good – your bills are past-due, your back aches, your child continues to rebel. Well, listen to what my friend Patricia has to say about this. She says, “Joni… I am in [the] early stages of Parkinson’s [and although] it is affecting my life, when people ask how I am, I like to say, with a smile, ‘It is well with my soul.’” I love that response: honest, upfront, and it tells everyone what her focus is on. Patricia’s health may be declining, but her soul, her soul holds fast to her Savior. And like my friend, you may not be doing well, health-wise, but when you trust in the Lord, there’s always courage to go on. So say with me – say with Patricia – “Today, it is well with my soul.”
