Whenever Joni is out with her husband, Ken, he greets veterans wherever they go. Let this be a reminder for you to honor vets whenever you see them because of the incredible sacrifices they’ve made for your freedom.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And my husband Ken has this special habit of always greeting people he sees in military uniform. No matter where we are—whether it's on the flight back home or waiting for our meal at McDonald’s—Ken will stop to greet a vet or even buy him a meal. Proverbs 27:2 says, “Let someone else praise you,” and that's what Ken and I do: we want to honor the sacrifice that these men and women have given to defend our freedoms. Many of them have sacrificed quality time with their families or career plans, some have even lost limbs and endured mental suffering as a result of their time in the military. It’s why we at Joni and Friends host Warrior Getaways—these are special camps designed to encourage and thank wounded vets and their families. Want to learn more and join us in caring for our vets?
