Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I was a teenager and learned I’d be paralyzed for the rest of my life, I sank into depression. But God motivated my friends to lift me up in prayer. Then after prayer, their idea was to care. They’d come to the hospital, bring guitars, record albums; I remember one girl polishing my nails during a visit; another brought a book of poetry. Mrs. Miller, the mother of a high school classmate, came by with freshly baked sugar cookies. These Christians were all about prayer and then showing care. After that, they took time to share. They knew that when they would open their Bibles, they had won the right to be heard. They knew I’d listen because prayer and care had softened my heart. It made the sharing of the Good News a true blessing in my life. So, try it today: prayer, care, and then share Jesus with those who hurt. What a difference it’ll make.
