This week, look for opportunities to encourage others with a kind word – it’ll be pleasing to God.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And recently, I went for my yearly eye exam. The technician, Raymond, helped position me in front of the machine, directing me as I powered my wheelchair up to the equipment that emits a puff of air against your cornea to check your eye pressure. It was hard to hold my breath, but Raymond quickly took the measurement, and then he said in a half whisper, “Good job!” I positioned myself at the next machine, Raymond took the reading and again said, “Good job!” Now you’re going to think this is odd, but I had had a hard day dealing with a lot of pain and well, it just felt good to hear those two little but powerful words. Proverbs 25 says, “Words aptly spoken are like apples of gold in settings of silver.” So, this week, look for opportunities to encourage others with a kind word. They’ll be blessed and you just may hear from God: “Good job!”
