Jesus bore the curse so that you could live with hope, no matter how hard the trial. Praise God and live for his glory!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and when I was first injured and realized that my paralysis was permanent, I really identified with Job. As far as I was concerned, mine were the trials of Job. I mean, sure, I had not lost children – I didn’t have any – or I had not lost property, but I could not face living life as a quadriplegic. While flipping through the book of Job, I came across where Job’s wife said to him, oh, “Curse God and die!” Now that sounded tempting. But you know what? I could not bring myself to do it, so instead I prayed, “God, if I cannot die, then please show me how to live.” And you know what? Today, for me, it is not a “curse God and die.” No, I’m all about “praise God and live.” Because Jesus bore the real curse. He was the one who died. And he did it so that you and I could live, and live with hope, no matter how much your trials feel like Job’s. So don’t be listening to Job’s wife. Praise God and live for his glory.
