A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Live Without Shame

Episode Summary

No matter what your physical condition, you too, can live without shame and embarrassment when your hardships produce Christ’s character in you.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. One afternoon my friend Katherine collapsed on the floor, unresponsive – at the age of 26, she had just suffered a massive brain stem stroke. Today, Katherine is a living miracle, and she has such joy. In fact, anyone who meets this remarkable young woman is struck by how unself-conscious she seems to be about her paralyzed right side, her slurred speech, and the need to walk with a cane. It’s all because Katherine holds on to Romans 5, where it says, “We… glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame.” Do you have an injury or an illness that makes you feel awkward? Friend, no matter what your physical condition, you too, can live without shame, without embarrassment when your hardships produce Christ’s character in you. And that’s a God-glorifying goal.
