Set your heart and mind on your deliverer from those troubles, Jesus Christ. It’s the heavenly thing to do.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And after 47 years of quadriplegia, I have faced so many hardships. But I see hardships as God’s way of helping me get my mind on the hereafter. Now, I do not mean ‘hereafter’ as a death wish or an escape from reality; I mean it as the true reality. And nothing beats rehearsing a few time-honored scriptures if you want to put reality into a heavenly perspective. So, every time my pain does not subside, or I’m stuck in bed for weeks, I look beyond the negatives, and I see the positives: I remember my home is in heaven; I dream of the day I’ll see my bridegroom; I remember the promise of a new body, a new heart, a new mind. I think about the crowns I’ll be able to cast at Jesus’s feet. Oh, friend, do not waste your time focusing on your troubles here on earth. Set your heart and mind on your deliverer from those troubles, Jesus Christ. Because it is the heavenly thing to do.
