A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Look Not Only to Your Interests

Episode Summary

Whatever you do today, think about the needs of another person around you and put their interests before your own.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I love the book of Philippians – especially chapter 2, where it says, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” And I think I love that verse so much because I see my husband Ken in it. I am his wife – his disabled wife – and I have seen that man time and again look out for my interests before his own. It’s not just that he gets up at 2:00 a.m. to turn me every night; it’s the little things – making sure I’ve got enough medical supplies in the cupboard, going out of his way to keep my wheelchair clean. Ken Tada is one man that looks at the interests of others, and I encourage you, too, to think about the needs of another person – maybe even a person with a disability, like me. It could be through something as basic as, well, dusting off their wheelchair, or as helpful as a ride to the doctor’s office. Whatever it may be, today, think of others.
