Try to be a good witness for Jesus – even when you’re on the phone with customer service!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And the other day I purchased a new computer. Instead of making life simpler it had me lost in a sea of special commands. In frustration, I rang the 800-number. After working through a series of machine messages, I finally spoke to a real person: “Hi, there I’m Michelle, and I’m here to help you. First, what’s your name?” And I growled back, “Joni Eareckson Tada. And, boy, Michelle, I hope you can help me because I am not a happy camper.” Well, there was this brief silence and then she said, “Are you the Joni Eareckson Tada?” Yikes, I’d been caught. And it reminded me that I dare not let loose careless words. The reputation of Jesus is always at stake. In Acts 1, Jesus told His followers, “…be my witnesses.” As Christ-followers we can act out of our frustration and defame Christ’s name, or we can make others thirst for God. Do the latter and be a good witness for Jesus!
