Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I have never seen a Christian worship God so happily and with such abandonment as Linda. With her rheumatoid arthritis, she has a hard time lifting her arms above her wheelchair, but you cannot mistake the unbridled passion in her worship of Jesus. Linda demonstrates that faith-filled suffering is essential when it comes to intense, authentic worship. John Piper has said, “When we are most satisfied with God in suffering, he will be most glorified in us in worship.” That’s what I see in Linda! Her afflictions have become the perfect display of the worth of God in her life. Psalm 63:3 says, “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” Linda is convinced that Jesus’s love is better than a life filled with unremitting pain of rheumatoid arthritis. Today, let suffering infuse authenticity into your worship, too.
