Today, pray that your love of the Bible be urgent and immediate. Don’t take it for granted. Thank God for that Bible by your bedside.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Sometimes during in-country preparations for our Wheels for the World trips, we will use translators from local disability groups. These people understand the language of disability and that’s a big help. However, one day in China, our Chinese translator saw us offer a disabled girl a Chinese Bible. At that point the translator stopped and had a puzzled look. She wanted to get this word right. So with a serious expression, she asked us in English, “What is this Bible? Can you explain to me what this is?” We were amazed. I mean, hasn’t everybody heard about the Bible? Well, not this woman. She immediately wanted to have a Bible when we showed her Romans chapter 10 and how “… Faith comes from hearing… and the message is heard through the word of Christ.” Oh, that our love of the Bible would be that urgent and immediate. Today don’t take it for granted. Thank God for that Bible by your bedside.
