Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And let me read this verse and you tell me what’s missing. In Matthew 19:29 Jesus says, “Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much…” Okay, what’s missing there? Or I should say, who is missing? Well, Jesus does not mention wives or husbands. We can leave our siblings or our parents for the sake of the kingdom, but not our spouse. None of this, “Well, God has called me to Africa, and if you don’t want to go, stay behind.” No, no, no, this Scripture really shows us how important, how sacred marriage is in God’s eyes. So, if you are struggling in your marriage, take heart. Stand firm and show love for the sake of Christ and you will receive a hundred times more for your effort – that’s a pretty good incentive today to make good on your marriage vows.
