Master of Improvisation

Episode Summary

Remember that Jesus is the master of improvisation in your life.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The famous violinist, Yitzhak Perlman, during a concert once snapped a string on his violin. Anyone who knows violins knows you can’t play with only three strings, but Perlman was undaunted. Right then and there, he began to recompose his piece and improvise; and it was beautiful. It was an extraordinary virtuoso performance! Later, Mr. Perlman said, “You know, sometimes it is the artist's task to find out how much music you can still make with what you have left.” When God said in Isaiah 43, “Look, I’m about to do something new,” I think he had in mind broken strings. Maybe your life is full of broken strings—a death in the family, a job reassignment—and you have to make the best out of it. If so, just remember: Jesus is the conductor, and he is the master of improvisation. With him? Your life of brokenness can be beautiful.
