Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When you have a bad attitude, isn’t it amazing how your thoughts can dart like mosquitoes—negative, selfish, prideful? What do you do? I’ll tell you what I did the other day and boy, was it effective. You see, I had been hurting in my wheelchair, and it was making me miserable. My attitude was cranky and peevish. So, I asked my friend Rainey, I said, “I hate my attitude today. Would you please put your hands on my forehead and pray for me?” Instantly, the peevishness vanished. I guess James was right when he wrote in chapter 5, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed…” That’s what Rainey did for me, all because I confessed my need to her. Look, if you’re struggling with sin, do the opposite of human nature. Don’t hide it. Confess it and then ask a friend to pray for you. Because it really works!
