Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada to tell you about a fascinating man we met in Brazil. Placido was a successful painter who rendered beautiful works of art. But when he had a stroke, it ended his painting career. With the loss of his profession and no family to lean on for support, Placido was forced to become homeless on the streets of Rio de Janeiro where he became very discouraged. When he learned that our Wheels for the World team was in town, he was so happy to receive a wheelchair and a Bible. What’s more, when he learned about my story and how I am able to paint with my mouth – despite my quadriplegia, it gave him such joy. He left our Wheels team beaming and smiling from newfound hope. Psalm 69 says “…Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged. For the Lord hears the cries of the needy.” You know, find out how you can serve with Wheels for the World and meet someone like Placido by visiting joniradio.org.
