Your identity in Jesus means a responsibility to others.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And do you have a message to share? Well, Francis knew he had a message when he met Joel, a teenage boy in a wheelchair. You see, Francis also uses a wheelchair, and like Joel, he, too, experienced sadness and exclusion as a teenager. But Francis was able to tell Joel about the change Christ made in his life – no longer excluded, now he was included because of his newfound identity as a child of God. And according to 1 Peter 2, with that identity comes a responsibility to “proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” And that’s exactly what Francis did for Joel. Maybe you know someone who is going through the same hardships that you once experienced. If so, join Francis in proclaiming to them the hope of Christ. Remember, your identity in Jesus means a responsibility to others.
