Is evil really taking over? The Bible says no.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I will admit, it’s hard to look at the evening news every night – it seems that the flood gates holding back evil have somehow been broken, and iniquity is taking over the entire world. Violence in our cities, crime in our streets, and terrible threats from terrorists everywhere. But is evil really taking over? The Bible says an emphatic “no.” And so do honored theologians, like St. Augustine who once wrote, “Thy will is so great oh God, that even that which is done against Thy will accomplishes your will.” Now that’s a powerful truth to ponder! For while we cannot discern God’s plan and purposes in all this evil, we can have every confidence that even the worst of wickedness somehow fits into his overarching decrees, all without staining his good reputation. That is a comforting thing to remember the next time you watch the evening news.
