There is no evil that can touch you without God’s permission —and that is why you can trust him with his will for your life.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I’ve read the book of Job many of times, but when I came across the first chapter, verse 8, I had to stop. There it says that when Satan came to God, informing him that he had been roaming the earth, “the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered my servant Job?’” Did you get that? God is the one who brings up the subject of Job, not Satan. And Satan gladly takes up the challenge and taunts God, insisting that Job only trusts him because God pours out so many blessings on his life. And it makes me wonder: “Lord, how much of ‘me’ trusts you only because of the good things, the blessings in life? How much of ‘me’ trusts that your perfect will is being worked out through the troubles and hardships of this world?” Christian, there is no evil that can touch you without God’s permission —and that is why you can trust him with his will for your life.
