No Friendships in Neutral

Episode Summary

Friendships matter to God and thrive when you nurture them with encouragement, care, and thoughtful actions.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And friendships really matter to God. Just look at James 2, where it says that Abraham was called God’s friend. And if friendships matter to God, they should matter to us, too. It’s why I make an effort to really encourage my friends, letting them know how much they mean to me. Like, this past Sunday I sent a quick text to my friend in chronic pain and I said: “Remembering you today. Praying about your pain.” Or this morning when another friend came to help me get dressed and get up in my wheelchair? My husband welcomed her at the door with a smile and a cup of hot coffee. Friendships, in order for them to grow and stay fresh, must be nurtured with lots of encouragement. Friendships can’t survive in neutral; they are either digressing or progressing. So today, encourage a friend with a text, phone call, or hey, even a cup of Starbucks.
