Today, seek the Lord with assurance; seek him with all your heart.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. There are many things God has said in Scripture, but we can also gain comfort and encouragement by what God has not said. And here’s a good one from Isaiah 45:19: God says, “I have not said to Jacob’s descendants, ‘Seek me in vain.’” Wow. Right there you have the assurance that God will answer your prayers. Oh friend, if you are seeking the Lord, it will not be in vain. This is good news for timid people who are tormented by the suspicion that there may be something in God’s eternal plan which shuts them out. But Isaiah 45 says ‘No way!’ So let your doubts and fears say whatever they will, if God has not cut you off from mercy [and he hasn’t], there’s no room for despair. So today, seek him with assurance; seek him with all your heart. Because, never has the Lord said to any living soul, “seek me in vain.”
