If you’re going through hardships, be comforted, be encouraged that the God of the Bible; the God of all surpassing love is sovereign.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And some years after I broke my neck and began to rise up out of depression and get serious about God, one of the most comforting Bible verses I read was Lamentations 3:12. It says, “He drew his bow and made me the target for his arrows.” What’s so comforting about that? Well, I admit, it sounds severe, but it gave me great comfort knowing that my broken neck was not some crazy, cosmic throw of the dice. It was not a divine game of Russian roulette. My broken neck was not some fly-by-chance accident. No, God drew his bow and shot his arrow. What a comforting thought – God is completely sovereign over my spinal cord injury. And that means there’s purpose. My broken neck has meaning. God intended it. So today, if you’re going through hardships, be comforted, be encouraged that the God of the Bible; the God of all surpassing love is sovereign.
