Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And during a recent wheelchair distribution in Africa, a young poor mother named Alisha brought her disabled daughter to receive a wheelchair. Alisha told us, “When my child was born, I thought God was punishing me for marrying a man who worshiped idols.” All this time she had been longing to return to the Christian faith of her childhood, but did not know how – that is, until she came to our Wheels distribution. There, she heard anew how high and deep is the forgiveness of God. Alisha was in tears and as she left, she said, “I came for a wheelchair for my daughter, but you have helped me return to Christ! Today, Jesus has given me a new beginning.” Oh friend, disabilities are not a punishment from God. But they can lead us back to him.
