Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Have you ever heard someone curse their parents, hate on their coworkers, or grumble about their ex-husbands or wives? It’s not uncommon, even among believers. But bearing a grudge is serious business. Listen to what God says in Leviticus 19. He says, “Do not ... bear a grudge against one of your people but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.” Now I think that’s so interesting how God gives bearing grudges such a prominent place. Right next to one of the two great commandments. I think that’s because God knows how a grudge can poison your mind and heart. When you harbor a resentment, your soul shrivels up and you become small-minded, bad tempered and crabby, leaving no room for others in your life. And friend, absolutely no past offense is worth that. So today, give up the grudge up to God and keep your soul large.
