Train yourself to be godly. Remember, nothing of real worth and lasting value will come easy.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I always admired my art instructor’s skill at painting. What would take me a year to paint, he could masterfully create in but a few weeks. And he explained why; he said, “Joni, nothing of real worth or lasting value comes easy. To others it may appear that I sit in front of an easel and, with a quick little bit of inspiration, render a drawing that looks effortless. But no way! In years past, I have spent hours in research and experimenting color tests and sketches behind it all.” You know what? In a way, that’s true of the canvas of our lives, isn’t it? Behind every compelling Christian life are hours of discipline. Nothing comes easy. That’s why 1 Timothy 4:7 says, “Train yourself to be godly.” And friend, training takes a lot of time and effort, so let’s get to it! Because remember, nothing of real worth and lasting value [even the Christian life] will come easy.
