Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and when at the age of 17, I learned I’d spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair, it was so overwhelming — and I can only imagine how my parents must’ve felt. Hearing the word “disability” is life-changing for any parent. With so many mixed emotions, extra doctor appointments, an uncertain future — it’s a lot to handle! For some parents, it can feel like a burden way too heavy to carry. But that is where you and I come in because as Christians, we are called to “carry each other’s burdens,” just as Galatians 6 says. Friend, there are many ways in which you can help parents of kids with disabilities. Whether it’s offering to make a meal, babysit on a Friday night, or volunteer at one of our Family Retreats for special needs families. There are so many ways you can help. And to find out more, just visit joniradio.org.
