Match the energy of that one leper and shout a loud and hearty thank you to the God up above!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and remember the story of the ten lepers in the Gospel of Luke? They called out to Jesus in a loud voice, “Master, have pity on us.” And, as you know, only one leper came back to really thank Jesus. Now there are many things about this passage that I love, but that which touches me most is this: In the same loud voice that he asked for pity, the Gospel of Luke records that the leper loudly thanked Jesus. I hope that speaks to you as it does to me. Because there are times when I groan and cry before the Lord; I plead with him out loud and present him my petitions. And when he answers – when I see him fulfill my request, I must – I absolutely must – first, remember to not only give thanks, but I’ve got to match the energy and emotion of my request. If the leper asked loudly and then upon receiving his healing, thanked God loudly, the onus is on me and you to do the same.
