A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Only Satisfied by the Savior

Episode Summary

To quench your spiritual thirst, turn to Jesus, the living spring of fresh and everlasting water.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Recently, while reading the book of Jeremiah, I paused at chapter 2 where it says, “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” Cisterns are large tanks that store rainwater—and water sitting around in a big tank can get pretty stale and stagnant. On the other hand, water that flows from a spring is alive and fresh. So, if you want to quench your thirst, you’d be silly to dip into a cistern when there’s a spring flowing nearby! Yet this is what God’s people often do—we drink from cisterns when we try to satisfy our spiritual thirst with the stale and stagnant pleasures of this world. Friend, your spiritual thirst can only be satisfied by your Savior, the spring of living water. So, thirsty friend? Today, drink deep from Jesus.
