A truly happy person is someone who knows their need of God.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a story from Africa! The sun was rising over the African plains, and we were getting ready for our Wheels for the World outreach. Along came a man scooting along, dragging his paralyzed legs behind him. When he recognized me, he leaned back on his haunches, spread open his arms and said, “Oh, Joni, welcome to our country where God is so much bigger! He’s bigger because we need Him more.” Oh, friend, God always seems bigger to those who need Him most. And Psalm 84 contains a special blessing for those who realize, who feel, who really understand their need of God. It says simply, “Blessed are those whose strength is in [the Lord].” In other words, happy are you when you look beyond what you lack to find all that you could ever want in the Lord. That is a happy person. Because that’s someone who knows their need of God.
