A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Overflowing with Hope

Episode Summary

Accepting your lot in life may not happen overnight, but if you give God your today, it will be the first of many days of increasing hope in him.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and it was my first winter out of the hospital, and I sat in my wheelchair by the farmhouse window, so demoralized as I watched my sisters go off horseback riding in the snow. I sat there praying not to feel hopeless that I couldn’t go outside in the cold snow, but little did I know later on that evening, my prayer would be answered. To my delight, my sister wrapped a big blanket around me and wheeled me outside on the patio of our farmhouse. I was breathless, marveling at these big flakes of snow covering my legs, swirling around my wheels. True, there were many more days of hopelessness, but that snowy day, I “overflowed with hope” as Romans 15 describes it. Friend, accepting your lot in life may not happen overnight – it certainly did not for me – but if you give God your today, it can – it will – be one in a series of many days of increasing hope in the God of all hope.
