Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when Sandy was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, she went through major depression. She would not cook, eat, go out, or even receive anyone at her home—something she loved to do. And so, every week, her friend Francie dropped off a home cooked meal at her door with a note of encouragement. Francie did that for six weeks, until one day Sandy called her and said, “This time Francie, stay for dinner.” Galatians 6 tells us, to “not grow weary of doing good.” Francie did not give up, and her practical love for Sandy helped lift Sandy from depression. So much so, that when Sandy was told she had only months to live, she threw a “Celebrate Life” party, with friends and family all by her side. Do you have a friend who is battling depression? Share the love of Jesus through your persistent encouragement. Change will come if you do not give up!
