No matter what your disability or challenge, use it to praise the Lord!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Recently, I watched a video of a young man named Derek with a remarkable talent. Born premature, blind, and with severe cognitive impairment, no one would have ever thought Derek could learn music, much less become a musical savant. Derek does not know how old he is and he cannot tell his right from his left—yet he has the ability to instantly call up any piece of music he’s heard. Since the age of three, Derek has performed at churches, fundraisers, banquet halls playing everything from the hymns to the classics. Psalm 150 says, “Praise the Lord. Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord!” Well, Derek is breathing, living and thriving—and oh is he praising the Lord with his musical talent! Friend, no matter what your disability or your challenge, use it today, would you, to praise the Lord!
