God wants you to pray for everyone – especially the one who wronged you.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when Mélita’s daughter was killed, her heart was filled with fear, anger, and sorrow. Still, Mélita prayed to God for help, but there was one person for whom she could not yet pray – the person who killed her daughter. One day, someone shared with Mélita 1 Timothy 2, where it says, "I urge you … that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone … this is good, and pleases God our Savior who desires all people to be saved." Wow, Mélita knew the Lord was prompting her to pray for her enemies, even if her emotions told her otherwise. Friend, maybe you have been terribly wronged – your spouse has cheated on you, your coworker slandered you – and you can’t find it in yourself to pray for that person. Well, remember the words of 1 Timothy. God wants you to pray for everyone – even that person who has wronged you.
