Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back to sleep, I often pray Psalm 130: “I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning.” While thinking about that verse, I imagine a lonely sentry on a night duty, walking on top of the wall, and as the long hours drag on; no one is there to talk to; no sound but the wind. Those dark hours seem endless, and I imagine him thinking, “Won’t morning ever come?” Funny how doomsday thoughts can make the night seem endless. But guess what, morning will come! So I don’t need to be anxious. I can even wait for the morning by spending that time in prayer, or thinking of scriptures I’ve memorized, or rehearsing a praise song in my heart. And what do you know – before long, the night has gone and morning has come. Wait for the Lord, friend: the light on the horizon is a lot closer than you think.
