Pray for your friends, share God’s word with them, and love them.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Proverbs 27 describes the heartfelt counsel of a friend as sweet perfume. It’s what my Christian friends did for me during those early months right after my diving accident. A broken neck? Lifelong quadriplegia? It was overwhelming, but I thank the Lord for the way He freshened and sweetened my life through the ministry of Christian friends. These dear friends prayed over me, shared God’s word, brought in pizza, magazines, record albums – all to show that they cared in a practical way. They kept me connected to reality and brought me up out of social isolation. They were, to me, the fragrance of the presence of God. So, let me ask: Do you have a friend who is going through a difficult time? Be a sweet aroma by praying for them, sharing God’s word, and loving them in a practical way. Believe me, it’ll make all the difference.
