Episode Summary

Next time you receive a harsh comment, remember Lynn’s words: press forward in Jesus.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada asking, how do you respond to people’s judgments? Well, Lynn is the mother of Bartholomew who has a rare disability affecting his muscles and joints. Often when they’d go out as a family, many stare or make comments about Bartholomew’s awkward gait – and then about her, the parent [as though she weren’t doing enough to help]. Now, perhaps you don’t have a child with a disability, but it’s happened to you – like if your child misbehaves in public? People stare; you’ll hear whispers. Well, Lynn believes those are opportunities from God. She says, “Stand firm, hold your head up, and press forward in Jesus.” So, if you are the brunt of staring and whispers, let it be a chance to grow spirit-blessed fruit of forbearance, kindness, and self-control. Next time you receive a harsh comment, remember Lynn’s words to press forward in Jesus.
