Though trapped by quadriplegia’s bars, Joni discovers that God’s presence, kindness, and favor can turn any prison into a place of freedom.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I may not be in prison, but as a quadriplegic, I understand a life sentence of confinement. Quadriplegia can often feel like incarceration, for I carry around my own set of bolts and bars wherever I wheel my wheelchair! Yet my “prison” is the very thing God has used to set me free. It’s why I am always buoyed up by Genesis 39:21 where it says, “While Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.” Wow! God did three amazing things while Joseph was in prison: God was with him; he showed him unceasing kindness; and he granted him favor. Oh, friend, if you are suffering with a godly response, God does the same for you. So, look to your deliverer in your pain and confinement and you will have the assurance he will always be with you, show you kindness, and grant you great favor.
