Ask God to make you pure, because then you will be useful to the Master and ready for every good work.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and, oh, the things that come out of a child’s mouth, right? My friend Nikki was driving in her car with her kids, when she started giving a little lesson on how God uses us. Nikki told her kids in the backseat that we’re like pencils in God’s hand. But her kids had a better analogy. Ten-year-old Abi piped up, “Oh no, Mom. More like we are his apps on his iPad, and the iPad is the world, Mom!” Nikki thought that was a pretty good analogy for the modern world. Now go back to the first century, and the apostle Paul used the analogy of vessels in a home – pots and jars in the hands of God, some used by him for special purposes, and others for very ordinary use. But no matter what the analogy, if we make ourselves pure, we are useful to the Master and ready for every good work. So be holy as God is holy, because you and I are pencils, iPad apps, and pots for his kingdom.
