Hear a unique story about the belt straps Joni wears on her wheelchair.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I leave work in the evening, Ken always straps me into my wheelchair for the ride home in our van. Two big black straps crisscross my chest. Recently while leaving the office, I was stopped by Rebecca, a coworker. She said, “Joni, I was raised on the mission field in Columbia. We lived in a rural community where rebels were trying to gain control. Colombian soldiers would regularly patrol the area. And they carried guns and were a constant reminder that we were in the middle of a civil war zone. Often, they wore bandoliers [belts filled with bullets that crisscrossed over their shoulders]. So, when I see you with your crisscrossed straps, I am reminded that we are in a spiritual battle. And you, dear Joni, look armed to the hilt and ready for that war.” I'm so honored that Rebecca recognizes that I want to be armed for every spiritual battle! And dear friend, I hope you do, as well. Find out your warfare garment in Ephesians 6.
