Remember what awaits you in glory!
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I think it’s so curious that on one hand we Christians say that we deserve hell, but on the other hand when we experience even a tiny taste of hellish circumstances, we fall apart. What is it with us?! Look, let’s get real: our troubles, no matter how hellish they seem, are light when compared with what we really deserve. To be honest, they are light when compared with the sufferings of Jesus. But if we really want to talk about how light our pain and problems are, 2 Corinthians 4 reminds us that their real lightness is best seen by comparing our problems with the weight of glory awaiting us in heaven. It’s why when my wheelchair begins to wear me down; when chronic pain makes me want to throw in the towel; when I feel like [pardon the expression] I’m going through hell, I remember what I deserve, and what Jesus suffered, and what awaits me in glory. Hallelujah!
