Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and lately, I’ve been taking inventory of my spiritual growth. And I tell you, looking back on the years, there have been long stretches of spiritual dryness – months, sometimes years, when I didn’t care much about reading the Bible. Back then, if I memorized anything, it was songs by the Beach Boys. Now, I could grieve about that time wasted, but just to keep my grief short, God points me to Joel chapter 2 where he says, “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” Did you get that? God promises he’ll make good on the damage you have done. It’s called redemption. So when you remember the dry periods in your life, do not dwell on the disappointment. Ask God to restore your lost years; and join me in memorizing Bible verses [does wonders to repair any damage done by a Beach Boys album]. And let the redemption and the restoration, begin!
