While you will never master your pain and it might not go away, you will find your Master in it through reliance on God.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I know how chronic pain can make you feel defeated – you know, like you simply cannot rise above it. Pain can flatten you and make you feel like you’re down for the count. And it’s why I always lean on 2 Corinthians 1:9. ’Cause Paul lists there some awful, awful hardships, and he says that these things happen – you know, the pain and the suffering – they happen that we might not rely on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. And listen, if God can raise the dead – and he certainly does – he can raise you and me up out of the dismal depression that comes from chronic pain. Yep, God is that powerful. So, if you are struggling with pain, rely on God to give you his endurance, courage, hope, and his strength. You won’t master your pain, it might not go away, but guess what? You will find your Master in it.
