Hear some good advice from 1 Corinthians 16.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When it came to the early church, persecution was constantly threatening the lives of followers of Christ. Today, with the exception of Christians who live in the Middle East or other volatile regions, many of us have never experienced persecution. Instead, Charles Spurgeon says, “We bear the spirit of the world—its blandishments, its soft words, its oily speeches, its hypocrisy, and more…We must stay wide-awake, for we traverse enchanted ground.” Wow! Christian, remain firmly grounded in your faith. Day by day you are being challenged by the media, pop culture, politics, science, and by changing times. It’s a different kind of persecution we experience, every time we speak up about controversial issues. But, 1 Corinthians 16 says, “Stand firm in the faith...” Good advice for any pilgrim traversing enchanted ground.
