Remember the Words of Job

Episode Summary

Praise God for those rare and beautiful days when things are breezy and bright and on days when they’re not.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And earlier this week I enjoyed a most extraordinary day of no pain. It was the most beautiful and rarest of days. But today? A Tyrannosaurus rex has sunk its sharp teeth deep into my hip, and it hurts. And so, I smile, and I remember the words of Job in the second chapter, “Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” I remember something else [and this may speak to you]. Mary Jean Iron writes, “Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are… let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in my pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, from your return.” Praise God for those rare and beautiful days when things are breezy and bright. And praise him especially on days when they’re not.
