A Moment with Joni Eareckson Tada

Rest in Isaiah 55

Episode Summary

God is up to something wonderful even when you think He’s not.

Episode Transcription

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And the other night, my husband was boiling corn on the cob, and he insisted by its color that it was done. Now, I knew that it had not been on the stove long enough, but Ken served it anyway. And it tasted raw. What’s true in cooking is true in life: 1 Corinthians 4, says, “Judge nothing before its appointed time.” I mean, just look at those heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11. They labored hard in the Lord, but many, if not most did not see fruit for their work. Little did they realize that their hard labor was planting powerful seeds for the future. And God was calling them to rest in that important fact. And, not to judge before the appointed time, for that only leads to disappointment. Rather, rest in Isaiah 55, that God’s Word and work never return void. Friend, it’ll happen; He’s up to something wonderful, even when it seems that He is not.
