Today, close the refrigerator, turn off the TV, turn off your phone and trust God.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And when I’m bored, I can take it to God, or I might switch on my favorites playlist. When I’m depressed, I can either run to the Lord or run to the refrigerator. When I’m working, I can either ask Jesus for his guidance or become frantic about deadlines. When I’m relaxing, I can either think or read about God, or I can veg out in front of the TV. You see, all of us by nature are worshipers. The question is, do we worship God or worship the idols of our preferences? We’re either doing one or the other. But the truth is, idols are utterly useless when you really need them the most and its why Jonah 2:9 says, “Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.” Today, friend, do not forfeit the grace [and the help and favor] from God that could be yours. Close the refrigerator, turn off the TV, put away your iPod, and trust God.
