Losing feels like a winning game when it’s for Christ’s sake.
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And this past winter when I went to the doctor for my flu shot, I have to admit, I was hesitant. There’s something [I don’t know] counterintuitive about preventing the flu by being injected with the flu virus, even if it’s supposed to be a dead one. Besides, as a quadriplegic, exposing myself to the flu is dangerous. So, I asked my doctor. I said, “Are you sure this is right?” She smiled, then proceeded to stick me in the arm. Thankfully, I did not get the flu. And you know, that word counterintuitive fits Luke 9:24 where Jesus says, “… whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” Talk about counterintuitive! Like, I’m going to find my life by losing it? Jesus, are you sure this is right? Well, guess what? It may sound counterintuitive, but it’s spot on. Lose your life for Christ’s sake today and you will find it.
